Position Summary: The Health Care Speech Pathologist (Speech-Language Pathologist) assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. This role focuses on enhancing patients' ability to communicate effectively and improving their overall quality of life in various healthcare settings.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Diagnosis:

o Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' speech, language, and swallowing abilities.

o Utilize standardized tests and clinical observations to identify communication disorders.

2. Treatment Planning:

o Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient goals.

o Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient’s needs.

3. Therapeutic Intervention:

o Provide direct therapy for speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders in one-on-one and group settings.

o Utilize assistive technologies and augmentative communication devices as needed.

4. Patient and Family Education:

o Educate patients and their families about communication disorders and effective strategies for improvement.

o Provide resources and support for at-home practice and reinforcement of therapy goals.

5. Collaboration:

o Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

o Participate in case conferences and contribute to comprehensive patient care plans.

6. Documentation:

o Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with regulatory standards.

o Monitor and report on patient progress and outcomes.

7. Continuing Education:

o Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in speech-language pathology.

o Participate in professional development opportunities and training.

 

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

· Current state licensure and certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (CCC-SLP).

· Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Work Environment:
