Job Description: Health Care Psychologist Position Summary: The Health Care Psychologist provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients in a healthcare setting. This role focuses on integrating psychological principles with physical health care to promote overall well-being. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Diagnosis:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations.
  • Use standardized testing and clinical interviews to diagnose mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to assess the psychological impact of physical health issues.
  • Treatment Planning:
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments.
  • Employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and other modalities.
  • Patient Care:
  • Provide direct therapeutic interventions to patients, including individual and group therapy.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health issues and treatment options.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Research and Education:
  • Stay current with research and developments in health psychology.
  • Conduct or participate in research projects related to psychological aspects of health care.
  • Provide training and education to healthcare staff on psychological issues impacting patient care.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards. Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited program.
  • Licensure as a psychologist in the state of practice.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health policies and regulations. Skills:
  • Proficient in therapeutic techniques and psychological assessment tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
